Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week 2011

 Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week 12 – 18 September 2011

Would you like to help raise awareness of lymphoma or get involved in a fundraising event?

Every September we celebrate Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of lymphoma nationally and also a time to raise vital funds so that we can continue to provide our free services.

There are a number of ways that you can help and get involved:

Sharing your story

If you'd like to find out more about sharing your personal experience of lymphoma in your local newspaper or on your local radio station, please contact the Lymphoma Association's communications team by calling 01296 619424 or by emailing communications@lymphomas.org.uk

Alternatively, we're always looking for people to share their personal experiences of lymphoma on our website. If you would like to do this, please click here to upload your story.

Displaying an awareness poster

You can also help spread the word about Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week and make other people aware of the disease and its symptoms, by displaying our awareness poster, which will be available to download here at the beginning of September.

If you would like to help raise awareness at anytime throughout the year, you could organise a stand in your local library or display some posters in your local community.

To receive posters, leaflets and awareness raising materials, please contact us and let us know how you can help.

Tell people online

Why not post a status update on Facebook: ‘I have a personal reason for asking everyone to put this as their status during Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week (12-18 September): “Lymphoma is the UK’s fifth most common cancer. The most common symptoms are persistent lumps, itching, tiredness, fevers and excessive sweating, especially at night. Please help raise awareness of this cancer by posting this as your status for Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week!”'

If you are on Twitter, you could tweet: ‘This week is Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week, which raises awareness of the UK’s fifth most common cancer http://bit.ly/oFF4wS '

You can order these from the Lymphoma Association shop at www.lymphomas.org.uk or by calling 01296 619 419 with your credit or debit card.

Wear purple days

Wear purple days are good fun and won't take a lot of organising, you simply ask your work colleagues or fellow students to dress in purple and donate money to our charity.

Holding a Great British Tea Break

Holding a Great British Tea Break (GBTB) is a simple and fun way to raise money for the Lymphoma Association, helping us to provide a source of vital information and support for those affected by lymphatic cancer.

Your tea break can be as straightforward as you wish, taking place in your home, workplace or school. Money can be raised by simply charging for a cuppa or by organising raffles and selling cakes. You could pick a theme, eg. a silver tea party to help celebrate our silver anniversary.

Loose change collection

Using our disposable donation boxes, leave the box on your desk at work or in the hallway at home, it can easily be seen by colleagues and visitors! To order your free loose change collection box, email your name and address to fundraising@lymphomas.org.uk

Text Giving

You can also support Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week by texting LCAW11 and the amount you would like to donate (eg LCAW11 £5) to 70070. The Lymphoma Association will receive the whole amount and you will not be charged for sending a text (with the exception of T-mobile customers who will be charged their standard rate).

Thank you very much for your support!
